Blue Square Premier club Rushden & Diamonds` striker Sam Smith has been loaned out to Blue Square North side Hinckley United for one month, in order to gain more first-team football.
Hinckley are currently in fifth place and are managed by Dean Thomas and played against Diamonds earlier on in the season in the FA Cup First Round Proper, with the Diamonds winning 3-1.
Smith will be allowed to play in the FA Trophy for Hinckley, starting with the visit of York City in the First Round on Saturday.
Diamonds` manager Justin Edinburgh commented: “Sam went to Corby Town earlier in the season, but didn’t get as much football as he, or we, would have liked for whatever reasons. Hinckley have got eight games in the period of the month’s loan, so it gives Sam a great opportunity to get up to speed. It`s important he goes there, plays some competitive games, then comes back and he’ll be ready to kick on then and make a statement here.
“Hinckley have had a good run since we beat them, we know what they are about, they’re a decent side, they played well against us, so it’s a good team to go out to and a good move for Sam.”
