Cook Returns to Reds
29 August 2009 10:17:00

Blue Square North club Workington have re-signed young Carlisle United hitman Andy Cook on a one-month loan.

The United striker has been a target for Reds` boss Darren Edmondson this week with injuries to his regular front men Jonny Wright and Gareth Arnison.

Cook agreed to join the Borough Park club on a one-month deal and will go straight into the squad to face Northwich Victoria on Saturday.

Edmondson said he was happy that the deal went through so quickly.

He added: “We needed to get another striker in and we already knew the qualities that Andy Cook can add to the squad.

“Andy knows the lads we have here and the system we operate so that will make it easy for him to fit in.

“He scored goals for us last season and we know we can expect more of the same this time round.”

Cook netted five times in the fifteen games he played at Workington last season.

Edmondson has been desperate to get another striker into the club with Wright suffering from a tight hamstring and Arnison battling to overcome a thigh strain.
