Andy Ford, manager of Blue Square South club Welling United, has re-signed midfielder Steve Perkins.
Perkins was signed by Adrian Pennock back in 2005 and made numerous appearances before leaving for Hayes & Yeading United in 2007. The versatile player can slot in either midfield or defence and will be a useful edition to Ford's squad.
Perkins is a very competitive and highly-rated midfielder who joined Dagenham & Redbridge in June 2002 from Conference rivals Woking.
The son of Russ Perkins, a former well-known manager in north-west non-League circles, Steve started his playing days in Burscough`s youth team before joining Plymouth as a professional after impressing with Crediton United in the Western League.
He made a handful of League appearances before joining Stevenage Borough in September 1997. But he failed to make a real impression at Broadhall Way, however, and moved to Woking for a £10,000 fee just over a year later.
He represented the British Universities and was a regular with the Cards before his switch to Dagenham.
He switched to Aldershot Town in February 2003 and after helping them to win promotion to the Conference, moved onto Gravesend & Northfleet in August 2003, joining Welling during the close season of 2005.
He departed for Hayes & Yeading in 2007 before returning to Park View Road in August 2009.
