Blue Square Bet Premier champions Crawley Town have snapped up ex-loanee Jamie Day from former league rivals Rushden & Diamonds.

Day, who can play both left-sided midfield and at left full-back, joined the Diamonds in the summer of 2010. He signed on July 1st once his contract with Peterborough United expired.

The 25-year-old started in the youth ranks at Peterborough, and went on to make over 100 appearances for the Posh as they rose from League Two to the Championship.

Day had loan spells at Crawley and Dagenham & Redbridge during the 2009/10 season, where he made eight appearances.

He made thirty-nine appearances for Rushden this past campaign.

"We saw Jamie a number of times this season and he was always highly impressive," said Crawley boss Steve Evans.

"Before that I watched him when he was outstanding at Peterborough United when they won promotion from League Two.

"We believe he is another excellent addition to the dressing room and I know Jamie can't wait to join up with the rest of the lads when we start pre-season training at the end of June."
