Blue Square North side Corby Town won the Northants Hillier Senior Cup on Wednesday night.
Hereward Teamwear United Counties League Premier Division high-flyers Daventry Town almost bridged the three division gap between them and Corby, narrowly coming up short at the Rockingham Triangle.
Steve Diggin's 17th minute penalty for the Steelmen was cancelled out by Russell Dunkley 6 minutes later.
Corby regained the lead after 41 minutes through Brett Solkhon, but again Daventry produced a speedy response with Ryan Howell squaring the tie within a minute.
Leon Mettam's 73rd minute effort won the trophy for the Steelmen.
