Dean Saunders, manager of Blue Square Premier club Wrexham, has released two youngsters, loaned another out and seen Simon Brown return following his loan spell.
Brown has returned to the Racecourse Ground after a two-month loan spell with league rivals Tamworth, where he notched one goal in nine matches.
Brown, 26, who began his career at West Bromwich Albion, signed for the Dragons on a free transfer from Mansfield Town in 2008, but has struggled to make an impact.
“He’s training with us and it’s a case of seeing what we can do,” commented Saunders (pictured). “We might be able to get him another loan move or otherwise it’s up to Simon to get his head down and work hard.”
Meanwhile, youth striker Jordan Kane has joined Principality Welsh Premier side Technogroup Welshpool on loan for the rest of the season.
Bustling centre forward Kane, 18, who hails from Llandudno, is in the final year of his scholarship at the Racecourse.
“He needs to get experience of playing against men,” said Saunders. “He’s only been involved in the youth team so far, and there’s a few in front of him for the reserves, so a spell at Welshpool will give him an opportunity to gain more experience.”
Wrexham have also decided to release youngsters Matty Hurdman, who featured briefly for Welsh Premier side Prestatyn Town and UniBond League Division One North outfit Colwyn Bay in loan spells last term, and Luke Carding.
Saunders is continuing his quest to strengthen the first-team squad, but admits it is difficult to find the quality of player he is looking for to boost the ranks.
“If I can strengthen the squad I will,” he added. “I’ve enquired about a lot of players covering all positions, but there is nothing definite to report yet.
“It’s difficult because at this time of year clubs don’t want to part with their best players.”
