Cumbers Returns to Fleet
18 September 2009 19:07:00

Blue Square Premier club Ebbsfleet United have re-signed forward Luis Cumbers on loan from Coca-Cola League One neighbours Gillingham.

Cumbers joined the Gills as a trainee in July 2006 and made his League debut in the 2-0 home defeat by Yeovil in May 2007.

In 2007/08 he made a further six senior appearances for the club and also enjoyed goalscoring loan spells with Maidstone United and Grays Athletic.

He finished that season on loan at AFC Wimbledon, helping them achieve promotion to Blue Square South with a goal in the Ryman League Premier play-off final.

Cumbers began the 2008/09 season with a lively spell in the reserves, scoring a brace in both of his opening outings for the side. Injuries limited his first team appearances to just seven League outings but he did manage to claim his first goal for the club in the 4-0 demolition of Rotherham.

He ended the season with a loan spell at Ebbsfleet before agreeing a new one-year deal for 2009/10.
