Fleetwood Chairman Pleased with Home Draw
16 September 2009 11:58:00

Fleetwood Town chairman Andy Pilley has given his reaction to drawing Farsley Celtic in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round.

Micky Mellon’s men took maximum points last week in the Blue Square North at Farsley, a game in which the club’s two latest signings made significant contributions on their joint debut.

“I’m very pleased with a home draw. We certainly won’t be under estimating Farsley. They made us work for the points at their place, particularly in the second half. It won’t be an easy game but you can’t ask for anything more than a home tie at this stage of the competition. We’ve achieved that and hopefully we can progress.”

Pilley is looking forward crowds to a bumper cup crowd, building on the regular four figure Highbury attendances so far this season. The chairman is also glad the troubled West Yorkshire outfit will benefit from the shared cup gate receipts.

“Our support at Highbury has been great this season and it will also be nice to help Farsley. Their financial predicament is well documented and hopefully we’ll make a few quid on the gate for both sides – so long as they don’t take the prize money as well.”

Turning to the club’s four match unbeaten run, the chairman says the new boys have made an immediate impact, with Seddon already starting to repay his significant transfer fee with four goals in two games.

“Gareth looks a very, very exciting player and there’s a buzz of anticipation whenever he gets the ball. He’s oozing with confidence and knows where to find the back of the net. I’d go as far as to say he has been a pleasure to watch.

“I think Claus has gone about his job in a very quiet but useful manner. He doesn’t loose the ball when he wins it and he’s an extremely player, but of a different type.”
