Fleetwood Town have been paired with fellow Blue Square North outfit Farsley Celtic in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round. The tie is due to be played on 26th September.
Fleetwood took maximum points last Tuesday at the Throstle’s Nest with Gareth Seddon and Claus Jorgensen making their first starts for the club. Seddon marked his debut with the opening goal and Mike Wilde followed up with the second.
Centre half Steve McNulty (pictured) welcomed the visit of Farsley Celtic after lining up in the middle of defence in last week’s league encounter: “It’s a decent draw for us. The score-line at their place gave us three important away points. I think we could have had a few more on the night with the chances we created.
"The FA Cup is totally different, though. It will be a tough game. They are struggling in the league with the administration deduction but the cup’s a one-off game. They’ll want to forget the league for at least one game.
"We fancy our chances against anyone at home in front of our support. I’ve no worries about playing a team from our own league. It makes you prepare as you would for every normal game. Plus, they’ll be no surprises of a lower league club coming to play out of their skins against a bigger club."
An FA Cup Second Round tie at home to Hartlepool United last season witnessed Fleetwood Town’s highest ever finish in the competition. Micky Mellon guided his men past Wakefield, Frickley Athletic, Nantwich Town and Leiston before narrowly going out at Highbury against the Football League outfit.
