Blue Square Bet Premier club Luton Town have snapped up Andy Drury on a free transfer after the winger snubbed champions Stevenage Borough`s offer of a new deal.
Drury remains in the Conference National after winning promotion last season and it has dealt a blow to Boro’s preparations for League Two next season.
“Andy has been a player that has been on the forefront of our minds throughout the whole of last season and we are naturally absolutely thrilled that he has made the ambitious decision to join us,” said Hatters` boss Richard Money.
Drury joined Stevenage on a free transfer from Lewes and had an injury-hit first season at Broadhall Way. He made his debut away at Wrexham in 2008 and a few days later he opened his scoring account with the club in their 3-1 defeat against Eastbourne Borough.
Drury began the 2009/10 season well and seemed to be comfortable at the club. His early form was impressive and the goal he scored away at Hayes & Yeading United proved that.
Unfortunately injuries affected him again, but he came back and became a key member of the team that finished the season strongly and went on to win the league.
He capped off his season – and ultimately his Boro career - with a fine goal at Wembley in the FA Trophy Final.
