A bumper crowd of 3,084 saw Newport County maintain their relentless march towards the Blue Square South title after beating Bishop`s Stortford on Friday night – their twenty-first successive league game without defeat.
In truth it was a disappointing game that promised much for home fans after Kerry Morgan had given their favourites an early first-minute lead.
But it was a rather nervous Exiles who went through the remaining 89 minutes with little alarm at the opposite end however, it must be said.
But was this win did mean was that County are only a point away from being able to celebrate winning the title – in mid-March!
The Exiles could even be crowned champions on Saturday if Braintree Town, Chelmsford City and Bath City fail to record victories, otherwise a draw against Havant & Waterlooville on Monday will see the County reach the magic eighty-six-point mark.
