Duo Extend Harriers` Stay
23 March 2010 12:59:00

Kidderminster Harriers have officially completed extensions to the loans of striker James Lawrie and goalkeeper Ross Atkins at the Blue Square Premier club, whilst allowing two players to leave Aggborough.

Port Vale's Lawrie (pictured) and Derby County's Atkins are set to stay with us for the remainder of the season after impressing during their initial months at the club, the extensions confirmed by the Football Conference just before noon today.

Atkins has kept a clean sheet in half of his games thus far, whilst Lawrie opened his account for the club with a fine strike against Luton Town a week ago. More of the same is the ask of them, then, from Harriers boss Steve Burr.

He said: "I've been delighted with them both since they've been here.

"Ross played very well for us in goal once again on Saturday and has done exceptionally well for us, as has Jamie who went through a bit of a stop-start time of it when he first came.

"Port Vale have a call-back on him should they need him but both clubs were happy for us to keep them here and we are pleased with that."

Going in the opposite direction are youngsters Nathan Hayward and Kyle Hadley.

The pair have featured sparingly this season and Burr is keen for them to get some match action before the season is out as they link up with Blue Square North outfit Redditch United on loan until the end of the campaign.

"They're two young lads who need to play and I've wanted to let them out before and we have spoken about it," added Burr.

"Up until now the injury situation has meant we've been a bit threadbare on numbers but now that is starting to clear up it is an opportunity for them.

"They'll go out effectively until the end of the season and we will be keeping a very close eye on how they do in the Bue Square North."
