For the FA Trophy First Round tie between Blue Square Premier strugglers Chester City and ambitious Blue Square North outfit Fleetwood Town, only just over 500 people bothered to turn up at the Deva Stadium.
The game was brought forward 24 hours on police advice and whether many more would have attended had it been on a Saturday is debatable, but it was certainly disappointing.
In the end any hopes Chester supporters had of uplifting their miserable season to date with a decent run in the Trophy disappeared, thanks to Adam Warlow’s (pictured) 55th minute strike after an error by City keeper John Danby.
It was certainly no fluke result, however, as the Codmen were worthy winners on the night against a youthful Chester, who fielded one of the youngest teams in their history.
