Fleetwood Town have tabled a significant, five-figure bid for Blue Square North rivals Northwich Victoria`s captain Simon Grand.
Along with all other Football Conference and UniBond clubs, Fleetwood received a notice from Northwich last Friday stating all playing staff were available for permanent or loan transfer.
The circular, sent by the Football Conference on behalf of the Cheshire club, cited wage restructuring as the reason for the drastic move.
The Vics started the Blue Square North season with minus-ten points after going into administration in May 2009.
Grand, 25, was a target of Fleetwood during the summer and the Highbury outfit have now renewed interest following last week’s announcement from the Victoria Stadium.
A Fleetwood spokesman said: “Fleetwood Town have contacted Northwich Victoria regarding Simon Grand and are awaiting a response.”
