Chester Part Company With Wadsworth
30 September 2009 12:43:00

Blue Square Premier strugglers Chester City have parted company with manager Mick Wadsworth after Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat at home to Forest Green Rovers.

Wadsworth, 58, was appointed at the Deva Stadium in June, succeeding former Liverpool defender Mark Wright. But City, who started the season late under a twenty-five-point penalty, have won just twice in thirteen games, and Tuesday defeat to fellow strugglers Forest Green was their fifth home defeat in seven games at the Deva.

Much-travelled former Newcastle United assistant-manager Wadsworth has brought in more than a dozen players in a bid to transform the club's fortunes. But, although the club are still appealing against the second of their pre-season points deductions, City are still twenty-four points adrift of safety.

Experienced former England semi-professional international defender Tim Ryan and physio Billy Gerrard will take charge of the team for this Saturday's vital trip to second-bottom Hayes & Yeading United.
