Saunders Hands Frenchman a Chance to Shine
19 August 2010 16:23:00

After training with Wrexham for a couple of weeks, Dean Saunders has moved to bring in French striker Mathias Pogba as an international triallist so he could play in the opening reserve team game against Morecambe.

If permission is granted then a player is allowed to play in two trial matches during a twenty-eight-day period.

His former club, which was Quimper FC, a CFA2 side based in Brittany, France, confirmed that Mathias was out contract during the latest transfer window and that he had no suspensions hanging over him. Then the French Football Association confirmed that they had no issues with him trialing with us.

This averted the need for international clearance, as long as he only plays in a maximum of two non first-team games.

Pogba`s younger brother Paul is with Manchester United having moved to Old Trafford from Le Havre in 2008 - and being at the centre of a bitter compensation battle between the two clubs.

This has now been resolved and Mathias is currently living with his brother in Manchester.
