17 June 2010 18:59:00

Forest Green Rovers` manager David Hockaday has certainly been busy over the past few weeks as he announced EIGHT signings ready for the new season in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

A mixture of youth and experience was on show as six of the players attended a photo call at The New Lawn.

The players signing were James Bittner, 28, an experienced goalkeeper previously with Salisbury City, Ian Herring, 26, midfielder previously with Northwich Victoria and Salisbury and Lee Smith, also 26, a local lad who plays as a winger/striker previously with Gloucester City.

Luke Jones, 23, is a tall defender who previously played for Mansfield Town, Callum Henry, 19, is a product of Forest Green’s youth set up who wins his first professional contract, while Jarod Hodgkiss, 23, was a firm favourite with the supporters last season.

Although not present at the photo call, the manager also announced that both Lee Fowler and Craig Armstrong had put pen-to-paper:

Fowler, 27, is a strong tackling midfielder and brother of Michael Fowler, who signed a few weeks ago.

Armstrong, 35, signs as player-coach and is a vastly experienced defender who brought stability to the Rovers defence when he joined the club towards the end of last season.
