Coup Signing for Blyth
01 March 2010 17:18:00

Blue Square North club Blyth Spartans have announced the signing of former Darlington club captain Steve Foster following his release from the Coca-Cola League Two basement club.

The 35-year-old defender has been at the centre of a contract row at his former club and this has allowed Spartans` manager Mick Tait the opportunity to swoop and secure the services of a very experienced campaigner, this is especially useful given the club’s current lack of numbers at the back.

Tait commented: “I have been on the look out for a defender of Foster’s class for some time and was delighted when the opportunity to sign him for the remainder of the season came about and that the club was able to strike a deal.”

Foster is no stranger to non-League football, having played for Telford United and moved from Woking to Bristol Rovers for £150,000 after spending just eight months with the Cards.

He then achieved promotion from the Conference with Doncaster before moving onto Scunthorpe and then Darlo.

Foster, who knows Manager Mick Tait from their time at Darlington, will go straight into the squad for Tuesday`s game at Workington.
