Knitters Bring in Joachim
02 March 2010 18:36:00

Dean Thomas, manager of Blue Square North club Hinckley United, has boosted his squad with the addition of two new players – including veteran former Leicester City favourite Julian Joachim.

Joachim was the "Crown Jules" of the Brian Little era at Leicester.

He burst through from the youth system at the club and went on to gain international recognition with the England under-21s.

His scintillating pace contributed to City's play-off final win over Derby County in 1994 and he went on to make seventy-seven League starts and scored twenty-five goals before a £1.5m transfer to Aston Villa in February 1996.

Joachim scored thirty-nine goals in nintey appearances for Villa but was then involved in a swap with Coventry's Mustapha Hadji.

He went on to play for Leeds United, Walsall, Boston United, Darlington and more recently, King`s Lynn and UniBond Division One South neighbours Quorn.

Thomas has also added former Gresley Rovers` striker Liam Hebberd, 25, on `dual registration` from East Midlands Counties Leaguers Bardon Hill Sports.
