AWOL Striker Turns up at Staines
03 February 2010 17:46:00

Controversial striker Charlie Ide is on the move again, signing for Blue Square South club Staines Town.

The 21-year-old has drifted between a number of non-League clubs since being released by Brentford two years ago, having scored seven goals in forty-six games.

The once promising prospect has turned out for the likes of Grays Athletic, Wivenhoe Town, Croydon Athletic and Carshalton Athletic in recent times, and a spell at Chertsey Town back in November lasted just one game.

He then signed Zamaretto League Division One South & West side Bedfont Green in early January.

But when Green finally returned to league action, following six postponed games, at Uxbridge last Saturday, Ide had gone AWOL.

It was rumoured that Ide was cold-shouldered after saying he wanted to join Staines when Green played them in a Middlesex Cup tie a couple of weeks ago.
