Saturday`s Blue Square South Review...
28 November 2009 18:03:00

Newport County hold an eight-point lead at the top of the Blue Square South table following Saturday`s reduced round of matches due to the FA Cup.

County took the lead at the Dripping Pan against Lewes when Scott Rogers netted after 25 minutes.

The home side were then reduced the ten-men just before the break when Ryan Timms was red carded, but Craig Reid missed the resultant spot-kick.

However, Kerry Morgan added the Exiles` second 11 minutes into the second half and Charlie Henry made it 3-0 with 7 minutes of normal time remaining.

Dover Athletic are second, but left it very late against fellow high-flyers Thurrock at Crabble.

A crowd of just over a thousand had to wait until deep into stoppage time to see Nicky Southall score the only goal of the game for the Whites.

Woking are third after beating lowly Dorchester Town 3-1 at Kingfield.

Mark Jermyn actually gave the Magpies a 24th minute lead that Moses Ademola eventually cancelled out a minute before the break.

Harry Arter put the Cards in front with 14 minutes to go, and new signing Nathaniel Pinney added a third 5 minutes later.

Basingstoke Town hold the final play-off spot, but had to be content with a point from a 1-1 draw at the Camrose against Welling United.

Matt Warner gave `Stoke the lead with a 20th minute penalty that Graeme Andrews levelled 5 minutes after the break.

Jamie Brown gave Eastleigh the lead immediately after half time at Cressing Road against Braintree Town.

However, the Iron at least earned a point when Michael Power equalised with 16 minutes remaining.

It was a similar scoreline at St George`s Lane where hosts Worcester City fell a goal behind to Bishop`s Stortford`s Lewis Smith after 23 minutes, but Marco Adaggio salvaged a draw on 54 minutes.

Gary MacDonald scored the only goal of the game to earn Havant & Waterlooville all three points at Westleigh Park against Maidenhead United, while Gareth Williams after 33 minutes and Mark Corneille 14 minutes from the end were on target for Bromley at Hayes Lane against St Albans City.

There was a thrilling finale at Melbourne Park where Chelmsford City in the end shared a 2-2 draw with struggling Weston-super-Mare.

Ben Cleverley gave the visitors the boost of an early 5th minute lead. Ricky Holmes equalised on 35 minutes only for Cleverley to restore the Seagulls` lead less than 2 minutes later.

That looked to be that until stoppage time when Rob Edmans popped up with the leveller for City, but there was still time for Weston`s Jack Crompton to receive a red card.
