Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has boosted his side’s fire power by signing striker Ben Mills from Blue Square North rivals Stafford Rangers.
Mills, 20, has joined the Reds on an eighteen-month contract having scored six league goals so far for Rangers, including Stafford’s reply in a recent 3-1 defeat at the Impact Arena.
Reds manager Law welcomed the addition of Mills. He said: “We have fought off some decent competition to land Ben. At 20, he is the right age and the right sort of player for us.
“Ben is a different type of player. He is a powerful target man who works hard, but he is clever with the ball into feet which will give us something we can build off.”
It is expected Mills, who only joined Rangers from Leek Town in the summer, will be handed his Alfreton debut in Saturday’s FA Trophy third qualifying round tie at Blue Square North promotion rivals Corby Town.
Law also has defender Matt Wilson fully fit again for the trip to Northamptonshire and includes Kris Bowler following the completing of his three-month loan deal at UniBond League Premier Division outfit Worksop Town.
However, Law will be without injured duo Anton Brown (ankle) and captain Kyle McFadzean (hip flexor).
Meanwhile, central midfield player Mattie Burke has joined Blue Square North rivals Hyde United on a month’s loan.
