Reds at Full Strength
07 August 2009 17:18:00

Alfreton Town begin the 2009/10 season - a sixth successive Blue Square North campaign - with an opening game trip to Farsley Celtic on Saturday.

Reds manager Nicky Law has no injury worries and will pick from a squad of seventeen for the game.

Law has introduced eight new signings to his squad with goalkeepers Craig Dootson and Paddy Gamble, right back Dominic Roma, central defender Richard Pell, central midfield player Mattie Burke, winger Andy Todd and strikers Anthony Howell and Damian Reeves.

Ironically, Farsley was the last away trip in the league of last season and the sides fought out a 3-3 draw in West Yorkshire last season with one of Alfreton's summer signings, striker Damian Reeves, notching a 93rd minute equaliser for the Celts!

The Reds had taken an early two-goal lead through Liam Hearn and Paul Clayton on 8 and 13 minutes respectively, Lee Tuck pulled one back on 21 minutes but the Reds went in 3-1 up at half-time when Josh Law scored in stoppge time at the end of the first half.

Dominic Krief reduced the arrears on 58 for Celtic who then grabbed a late, late equaliser.
It is always good to get off to a winning start and the Reds will be hoping for just that.

Alfreton have found the Throstle Nest a happy hunting ground down the years with seven wins, five draws and just three defeats in fifteen league trips since the first one twenty-four years ago, and Town are unbeaten in their last three trips there with two draws and a win.

Reds` strikers Liam Hearn and Paul Clayton will be looking to net against Celtic for the third league game in a row, with both having scored in both games in the 2008/09 season.
