Tuesday`s Blue Square South Review....
17 March 2010 09:32:00

With Newport County already achieving a marvellous Blue Square South championship success on Monday, the race is now on to see who accompanies them into the Blue Square Premier next season via the play-offs.

And Tuesday night saw only Dover Athletic really take full advantage by beating free-falling Bishop`s Stortford at Woodside Park.

Defender Ollie Schulz fired the Whites ahead in the 16th minute and struck again 20 minutes later to give his side a comfortable two-goal cushion they held until the final whistle.

Hampton & Richmond Borough boosted their chances of survival with a morale-boosting win against another of the play-off hopefuls, Bath City, at the Beveree.

The Beavers rallied from behind after City had opened the scoring in the 37th minute through Kaid Mohamed. But it didn't take the hosts long to draw level, as Dave Tarpey put the Beavers back on even terms just 3 minutes later.

Defender Dean Inman gave Boro the lead a couple of minutes after the break before Craig Dundas made it 3-1 in the 49th minute.

Two other contenders, Thurrock and Woking, met at Ship Lane and saw the home side come back twice to earn a share of the spoils.

The Cards took lead in the 17th minute through new signing Craig Faulconbridge but Thurrock drew level 8 minutes after the half time break through Kenny Clark.

Woking forged ahead when highly-rated Harry Arter found the back of the net in the 58th minute. However, Thurrock rallied once again and drew level in the 73rd minute when Phil Anderson headed home from a corner to earn his side a share of the spoils.

Braintree Town remain in third spot, bu had to be content with a share of the spoils from a goalless draw with Maidenhead United at York Road.
