Stevenage Borough extended their lead at the top of the Blue Square Premier table to four points after a 1-0 win over Histon at Broadhall Way on Tuesday night.
Jon Ashton scored the game's only goal in the 17th minute when he met an outswinging Stacy Long corner and beat David Knight from six yards.
Boro had further chances through Long and Chris Beardsley, who headed wide from a corner, whilst Histon went closest through Adam Bygrave, who hit the bar with a close-range header.
Charlie Sheringham forced a save out of Chris Day in the Boro goal from six yards but Stevenage held on to record their fifth consecutive clean sheet.
Kevin Gallen bagged a brace for Luton Town as they closed the gap on second-placed Oxford United by beating FA Trophy Semi Finalists Kidderminster Harriers 3-1.
Jake Howells opened the scoring for the home side in the first half, firing a left-footed 20-yarder into the top corner after 23 minutes. And the Hatters doubled their lead on 30 minutes, veteran Gallen scoring his first with a low shot after being found by Simon Heslop.
Harriers pulled a goal back almost immediately, James Lawrie scoring from long range, but Gallen crushed any hope of a Harriers` equaliser as he restored the Hatters two-goal advantage 12 minutes into the second half.
Robbie Matthews could have grabbed a late second for Kidderminster but he headed wide from close range.
Courtney Pitt's goal helped York City move back into the play-off places with victory at Field Mill against Mansfield Town.
Pitt fired home from 20 yards to give York their first win in seven league games and end the Stags' five-match unbeaten run.
He then won his side a penalty when he was felled by Jon Challinor, but Richard Brodie's spot-kick was pushed away by Alan Marriott.
Mansfield's misery was compounded when Luke Foster was sent-off late on.
Kettering Town's play-off hopes suffered potentially a fatal blow as they hit the self-destruct button at Moss Lane against old foes Altrincham.
A calamitous first half display handed Alty the points and left the Poppies' hopes of a top-five finish in tatters.
Kettering's defending left a lot to be desired - they certainly didn't look like a side with the best away record in the country.
The game was done and dusted by half time as the Poppies gifted their hosts a 2-0 lead, the only positive to come out of the opening period was that they weren't five down because they easily could have been.
The first gift of the night came just past the half-hour when Kwesi Appiah conceded possession cheaply and within a few seconds the ball was in the Kettering net as John McAliskey poked home after good work down the left by Nicky Clee.
If that was bad, the second on 42 minutes was worse as Alton Thelwell pulled Chris Senior back after he had passed the ball to keeper Nathan Abbey.
Thelwell was perhaps lucky to escape with just a booking but Shaun Densmore piled on the misery by converting the penalty.
It could have been even worse before half-time as Senior nipped in from another loose Thelwell pass-back but was snuffed out while the striker also tested Abbey again shortly after McAliskey saw an effort bounce off the crossbar.
Things didn't really improve after the break, although Jean-Paul Marna in particular tried hard to turn things around.
Kettering may still harbour hopes of finishing in the top five. But they will stand no chance if there are more performances like this.
Cambridge United secured a fourth straight win and extended their unbeaten run to seven games by beating Salisbury City at the Abbey Stadium.
They had to do it the hard way after falling behind to Matty Tubbs' early 6th minute strike from fully 40 yards.
But Cambridge levelled on 23 minutes when Josh Coulson poked home Danny Crow's pass from close range before Antonio Murray volleyed them ahead from 20 yards 9 minutes later.
Scott Neilson wrapped up the points for the home side 16 minutes from time when he fired into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Barrow lifted themselves out of the relegation zone as two goals in 9 minutes were enough to defeat Wrexham at Holker Street.
Mark Jones had the visitors` best chance of the first half - his curling drive from 30 yards was tipped away by Tim Deasy.
Jones opened the scoring when his fine strike from 20 yards found the bottom corner after 62 minutes.
Barrow drew level 5 minutes later in rather bizarre fashion - Andrew Bond's long-range drive stung the hands of Sam Russell whose parry bounced into his own goal off the back of an unfortunate Ashley Westwood.
Nick Chadwick then fired the hosts into the lead when his drive flew into the top corner with 15 minutes remaining.
Gateshead secured a much-needed win in their fight against relegation by beating fellow strugglers Forest Green Rovers 3-1 at the International Stadium.
The home side took the lead in the 10th minute when Graeme Armstrong volleyed home from 12 yards.
But Rovers deservedly equalised 12 minutes before the interval when Daniel Powell drilled home a low shot.
Peter Winn made sure Gateshead had an interval advantage by netting from 25 yards.
The home side continued to press after the break and secured victory when Brian Wake scored with 10 minutes remaining.
Powell could have set up a grandstand finish but it was not to be as his close-range effort was saved by Gateshead keeper Paul Farman.
