Avid Eastbourne Borough fan Lloyd Higgins, an Army private, presented the club with his Service Medal, awarded for his six months deployment in Afghanistan last year.
The medal, which was handed over to Borough chairman Len Smith at last Saturday`s game against Tamworth, is to be put on display at Langney Sports Club.
23 year-old Lloyd, who hails from Eastbourne, is based with 29 Regiment RLC in Gloucestershire.
Whilst he was in Afghanistan the club bridged the 3,200 mile gap by sending him kits, merchandise and programmes.
Said Len Smith: "Lloyd is a wonderful guy with a passion for his career and Eastbourne Borough. It is a marvellous gesture to donate his Service Medal to the club and we are honoured to receive it."
Before the Borough versus Tamworth, Blue Square Premier encounter, a bucket collection
was taken for "Help for Heroes" and raised £358. 68.
Smith said: "This was a magnificent effort for a worthy cause. A big thank you to all those who contributed."
