Blue Square North club AFC Telford United are in for a cracking season with ‘no pressure and the spotlight off us” claims chairman Lee Carter.
The Bucks head into the season on the back of a fine pre-season and Carter insists that the spotlight is off the club for the first time in a while.
He said: “Everything is gearing up very nicely. There seems to be a genuine sense of optimism again around the club.
“For the first time since we reformed there seems to be less of the spotlight on us due to others spending big and investing heavily in their teams. Fleetwood Town and Alfreton Town are definitely the ones to beat this year as they have done some very impressive shopping and invested heavily in their teams and as a result they will be on everyone’s list of scalps wanted, including ours.
“The manager and assistant have done a great job over the Summer and worked like trojans to get a very good squad together. With the public right behind us again we are ready to give anyone a game.”
Carter also urged supporters to turn up in numbers for this weekend`s opening game against Blyth Spartans. The club are hopeful that around 2,000 will attend the game.
“It is important that the supporters get right behind the players and manager. Bringing a friend, family member or neighbour along really makes a difference to the atmosphere.
“We still provide decent value for money and we guarantee that you will be afforded a warm welcome.”
