Bluebirds` boss Paul Cox has brought in Matty Platt and Connor Thomson on
loan from Championship side Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season as
well as defender Luke Burke from Rovers` league rivals Wigan Athletic for the
Nineteen-year-old Platt is predominantly a centre-back, who has captained
Blackburn`s under-23s side.
Thomson (pictured) joined Rovers from Carlisle United in December 2014 following a
The 21-year-old is a versatile performer who can play anywhere across
midfield and also in defence.
He has recently penned a new two-and-a-half-year deal to stay at Ewood Park
until the summer of 2019.
Burke, 18, joins in time to join the Bluebirds` squad ahead of tonight's
match at Macclesfield Town.
The Liverpool-born defender has been at Wigan since the age of 12, and has
progressed through all the age ranges, captaining the under-18s last season
before signing his first professional contract in the summer.
Having featured in pre-season with the first-team, he made his debut in the
opening game of the season at Bristol City and kept his place at right-back for
the next two fixtures at home to Blackburn and Birmingham City, coming off the
bench at Nottingham Forest and starting at Hillsborough against Sheffield
His progress was halted by a hamstring strain but he has been playing for
the development squad and signed a one-year extension to his contract, which
keeps him at the club until the end of the 2017/18 season, in November.
