Twiss and Brown Join Alty
25 May 2010 11:59:00

Blue Square Bet Premier side Altrincham have confirmed the signing of left-back Ryan Brown and striker Michael Twiss.

Brown, 24, originally joined Alty on loan from Northwich Victoria in February 2010 as emergency cover for the injured Matt Doughty earlier that month.

As a youngster he joined Port Vale and he was also briefly with both Manchester United and City. He made his first-team debut for Port Vale in May 2003 but after thirty-eight League appearances he was released by the current York City manager Martin Foyle in May 2005. He went to Leek Town and from there to Northwich Victoria, a club he joined in June 2006. He later signed a two-year contract extension in April 2008 but injury limited his appearances in 2009/10.

Thirty-one-year-old Twiss joins the Robins after a short spell with Stalybridge Celtic in the Blue Square North last term.

Twiss joined Stalybridge following his release by Morecambe in March but managed to make just a handful of appearances.

He started his career as a trainee with Manchester United and stayed at Old Trafford for four seasons before joining Port Vale in the summer of 2000.

Twiss has since gone on to represent the likes of Leigh RMI, Chester City and Morecambe
