Carlisle United are in negotiations with Blue Square North club Workington with regard to offering goalkeeper Tony Caig a full-time role at Brunton Park.
Caig is currently the goalkeeping coach at Brunton Park, while playing for the Reds.
Carlisle manager Greg Abbott said: "We are still in the early stages of talks but Darren Edmondson and Workington are aware of what we would like to do.
"If a suitable package can be put together for Tony then that will happen, and it would also involve him registering as a player as well as carrying out full-time coaching duties.
“Along with Adam Collin and Mark Gillespie, that would give us three keepers and a bit of strength in depth in that position."
