Fleetwood Town`s Shaun Beeley is aiming to comeback before the end of the season after being stretchered off during the victory at Corby Town three weeks ago.
The damage to the right-back’s knee has proved less serious that at first thought and he returned to light training on Thursday.
“The injury has settled down and I was back in training tonight. It ended up being a badly jarred knee and I luckily got away without a long-term injury. The damage is wearing off and I can’t wait to get back to training and then playing.
Beeley, 22, is keen to return to Blue Square North action and has been working on his recovery.
“I’ve had about ten days rest and been in the gym over the last week. I’m regaining my strength and fitness. I’ll get my shirt back eventually but I’ll carry on supporting the team whilst sidelined.”
Another name on the long-term injury list is Stephen Torpey who is suffering from a groin strain. That set-back followed straight on from a hamstring injury suffered last month. The midfielder last appeared in mid-January when Town beat Blyth Spartans at Highbury.
“I had another niggling injury after coming back from the hamstring problem. It comes with football but I’m obviously frustrated at been out for a long period.
“Everybody wants to be part of the success at the club and feel they have done enough to have played a part in creating it. It’s frustrating not to be on the pitch or eligible for selection.
“Hopefully I won’t be too long off a return and can play some part in the run-in. I need to regain my fitness, put some match practice in before thinking too far ahead. It’s not too far until the end of the season but there are plenty of games left for me to aim for to contribute.”
Torpey also joined Beeley in light training at Collins Park.
“I’ve done some running this evening. It wasn’t as much as I hoped to do but I can’t rush this type of injury. I can’t afford anymore setbacks so I’m following the treatment to the letter.”
