Michael Taylor is in buoyant mood ahead of Fleetwood Town’s visit to Gainsborough Trinity in the Blue Square North on Saturday.
His crucial ever-present record has seen Fleetwood take top spot and he feels his side has more to offer this season.
“When I first come to Fleetwood we weren’t too sure away from home. We’d win a few and then lose a few. That’s all changed and we’ve just got stronger and stronger. We now approach away games with confidence and look for three points not just the one.”
The central defender, 27, says self-belief is the key to his side’s current success.
“When results go your way it breeds confidence. The lads all want the ball and work hard for each other. There have been times when we’ve been down and everyone in the team has pulled for each other. It all starts from the front. All our strikers and the midfielders work really hard and play their part in defending.
“All the time the lads at the back go on about a clean sheet and nothing else. It’s the same with keepers Danny Hurst and Craig Dootson. That’s our job and we have enough talent in the team in front of us to help us defend.”
Deputy skipper Taylor says last Tuesday’s win at Eastwood Town was the correct score line despite Sean Clancy’s winner not coming until the 90th minute.
“Tuesday’s win was brilliant for the lads and we deserved victory in the end. We plugged away all game on a difficult pitch and against a difficult team. Wee pulled through in the end and it was a massive three points.
“The team is at the point now were I fancy us to do well home or away.”
