CONFERENCE: Lewer hopes to boost Rovers squad

Forest Green Rovers boss Alan Lewer is hopeful of securing some new signings before the weekend to help the club's fight against relegation.

Lewer, who saw Rovers climb out of the bottom three on Easter Monday with a goalless draw at Gravesend & Northfleet, has a couple of injury worries ahead of Saturday's home game against Tamworth, but is hoping to bring in two new faces before the transfer deadline on Thursday.

Lewer told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "Jon Richardson has a muscle injury but Matt Gasby is about 70% positive he'll be able to play against Tamworth. By the time that game comes around I'm hoping to have made a couple of new signings before the transfer deadline. I'm going to add to my squad now for the end of the season."

Forest Green are currently one point above the relegation zone, with Northwich Victoria currently sitting third from bottom and Farnborough a further two points adrift. Canvey Island could yet be dragged into the battle to beat the drop but otherwise it looks like two from those three will join Leigh RMI - who are all but certain to go down - in relegation.

For the love of the game...
