CONFERENCE: Brown sets 70-point target for Shots

Aldershot Town manager Terry Brown believes four wins from their last eight matches will secure his side a place in the Nationwide Conference play-offs.

Following their goalless draw at Morecambe on Tuesday night, The Shots are currently level on points with second-placed Halifax and fourth-placed Woking, and they travel to Canvey Island on Friday night looking to put the pressure on their promotion rivals.

Speaking to the Non League Paper this week, Brown said: "We set ourselves the task of four points from two games. We have one, so we need three on Friday night."

With the Islanders up next, and a trip to relegation battlers Northwich Victoria to come in April, Brown added: "In a strange way you can afford to lose those two, but not against teams like Woking and Stevenage, because they are the real six pointers.

"You can play mind games, you can play the statistics game and come up with whatever you like to look at. But all I have looked at is that we have got eight games left and we need to win at least four. If we win four of the eight and draw a couple that is 70 points."

Just seven points currently separate Aldershot from tenth-placed Exeter, with Morecambe and Dagenham & Redbridge a further two adrift.

For the love of the game...
