CONFERENCE: Lutley resigns from Leigh RMI

Geoff Lutley has resigned as manager of the Nationwide Conference's bottom club Leigh RMI, admitting that he had found it increasingly difficult to balance his full-time job with the commitments involved in running the Railwaymen.

Leigh RMI chairman Bill Taylor stated that the board had reluctantly accepted Geoff's decision and thanked him for his efforts, wishing him him well for the future, adding that the search for his replacement will commence immediately.

Taylor is hoping to be able to bring in a replacement before Saturday's game at Forest Green Rovers, admitting that the club already has 'a number of speculative applications and people in mind'.

He added: "Whilst it is to soon to say categorically, we hope to have a replacement in place for our forthcoming fixture at Forrest Green this Saturday. But if we fail to find the right person by then there are a number of internal options available to us. We will keep our supporters informed of developments as they arise and assure them the board are fully committed to finding the right person to take RMI forward."

Lutley had worked within a severely restricted strict budget at Hilton Park and was unable to lift the club out of the relegation zone. Leigh RMI are currently propping up the Nationwide Conference, 17 points adrift of potential safety, having won just one game all season
