SOUTH: Urchins appoint new manager

Following the departure of Gary Hill by mutual agreement, Hornchurch are delighted to announce the appointment of Tony Choules as First Team Manager.

The Conference South side appointed Choules following Hill's departure on Saturday. Choules has a long and successful career as a manager, having led Northwood for a seven year stint. Whilst manager of Northwood, Choules led the London club to two promotions, the Ryman Division One North championship and both League Cup and Associate Members Trophy success. He also discovered Scott Fitzgerald, who went on to become Watford's leading goalscorer last season.

Managing Director Jon Smith said: "Tony was our one and only choice, there was no short-list. I wanted him at this club, and when he said 'Yes', I was absolutely delighted. Tony now has to settle down with the players and undoubtedly there will be changes, but I am very excited that we have managed to secure the services of a manager that I have held in high regard for many years."

Tony Choules first game in charge will be away at Maidenhead next Saturday, 29th January 2005

For the love of the game...
