CONFERENCE: York get a break with ground deal
York City have renamed Bootham Crescent after securing a sponsorship deal with confectioners Nestlé-Rowntree that will guarantee the future of their ground.
The Minstermen's home will be known as KitKat Crescent for 2005 and 2006, after the new sponsors agreed to provide the club with the £ required to complete the re-purchase of the stadium from Bootham Crescent Holdings.
York City's managing director Jason McGill said: "KitKat Crescent was the obvious choice of name. The product is made in York, and like our home kit, is red and white.
"The financial assistance will enable us to finalise the deal to acquire the ground next month."
Although the club's future at their renamed home is now assured, they have plans to move to a new 10,000 capacity stadium by 2014.
