AWARDS: INGLETHORPE IS NATIONWIDE CONFERENCE MANAGER OF THE MONTH

Exeter City boss Alex Inglethorpe is the Nationwide Conference Manager of the Month for December.

The Grecians secured 12 points from five Nationwide Conference fixtures and a trip to Old Trafford under the former Watford player's guidance during the month.

Droylsden manager Dave Pace picks up the Nationwide North award following a perfect December, which saw his side win all four league fixtures.

In the Nationwide South, Steve King of Lewes is the Manager of the Month after an unbeaten sequence of results - victorious in four and drawing two league encounters in December.

Nationwide's Chris Hull commented: "The panel is delighted to recognise Alex Inglethorpe and Exeter's achievements with the monthly award following four Nationwide Conference wins and a success in the F.A. Cup to set up this Saturday's dream encounter at Manchester United.

"Alex was appointed manager at Exeter City in October 2004 and is no stranger to St James' Park having previously been a player with the club. However, this is his first Nationwide Conference managerial appointment following spells as youth team manager at Leyton Orient and player-manager at Leatherhead.

"Alex has shown tremendous ability to work under tight financial constraints and has great experience in developing young players - skills that are essential at this level."

"The success of Dave Pace and his players at Droylsden is a fantastic story. Dave is from the area and has been Chairman of the club for nearly eleven years and manager since 1998.

"In just over a decade he has taken the side from the Unibond South into the Nationwide North - coming runners-up in the Unibond Premier and winning three cup competitions along the way. He has also developed the strategy to build two new stands, a social club and has further plans for development at Droylsden."

"Steve King was a left winger who played for a number of clubs in non-league circles and started his managerial career with Dulwich Hamlet. Steve was appointed manager of Lewes at the start of the 2003-04 Season and took them to the Ryman League title last season. They then sailed through the play-offs winning three games in a week to gain their place in the newly formed Nationwide South.

"One of Steve's successes in December came against Redbridge when they were 4-0 down but came back to win 5-4."

Chris Hull added: "Alex, Dave and Steve will all be presented with a specially commissioned magnum of champagne by Nationwide within the next week."

For the love of the game...
