FA CUP: Daggers on Match of the Day

The opening clips for all future FA Cup editions of the BBC's long-running sports programme Match of the Day have been filmed in Dagenham. They were filmed at Dagenham & Redbridge FC, the Eastbrook Public House, Adams Barbers and the Fresh 'N' Tasty sandwich bar on Thursday 28th October.

A BBC Director said; "We're trying to move away from celebrities, emphasising the fact that the FA Cup is for everyone. The FA Cup includes all teams from the Premiership downwards and so this sequence is about the fans, from people queuing to buy tickets for a local team to fans watching the game at the pub. Dagenham is a great location which has been untouched by big shopping centres so you get a great sense of community.'

The Dagenham FA Cup sequence will be running from November, replacing the current sequence which is now two years old.
