FA CUP: Alfreton chairman urges fans: "Be our 12th man!"

Alfreton Town chairman Wayne Bradley is calling for the travelling fans to become the '12th man' and shout the side to victory in this Saturday's FA Cup 4th qualifying round tie at local derby rivals Worksop Town.

Cup fever has hit the area and the Reds are expecting to have a much bigger following than usual with them. Bradley explained: 'Our players readily admit they are given a lift by the vocal support the fans give them at away games and there have been times when they have helped to get us through tight situations just by their sheer backing.

'Games with Worksop are always very close affairs as was proved in our goalless draw with them at home in the league earlier in the season. With the prize of a place in the first round proper up for grabs, an eagerly awaited local derby will quite likely be decided by one match turning event.

'For once, we go into a game as the underdogs. Worksop's recent upsurge in form, home advantage and a victory over a buoyant Droylsden side in the last round says that despite our league position."

Alfreton will be aiming to reach the first round proper for only the third time in the club's 45-year history, and Bradley added: 'It is in games like these that you need that bit extra from everywhere and I think our fans can give us a massive boost by getting right behind us and shouting us on. The fans have had some big days out over the past few seasons and this is another one of them. I am asking them to become our 12th man again and make all the difference'.

Transport to the match

Whatever happens on Saturday, the Reds will be facing the Tigers for a second time in four days next Tuesday (Nov 2nd). Should a cup replay be necessary this will take place at the Impact Arena next Tuesday (7.45pm) and will replace the scheduled home Carthium Cup first round fixture against Worksop Town!
