CONFERENCE: WEEKEND ROUND-UP

Accrington Stanley suffered their fourth home defeat of the season after losing 3-0 to Dagenham and Redbridge. Three second half goals from Lee Goodwin, Chris Moore and Matt Harrold ensured the Daggers grabbed the three points.

Leigh RMI were reduced to ten men after 35 minutes of their clash with Aldershot, when Mark Drew was sent off for bringing down Hugh McAuley.

Leigh were thrown into disarray and Aldershot could only capitalise on their extra man. Tyrone Smith drove home a free-kick after Gareth Stoker's foul on Dwain Smith on the stroke of half time, before Jonathan Dixon made it 2-0 from the penalty spot following Leigh keeper James Mann foul on Tim Sills in the box.

Tamworth took advantage of ten-man Barnet, beating them 3-0. Barnet didn't know what to do when Simon King was dismissed for fouling Tristram Whitman. Whitman then opened the scoring minutes later with a superb lob.

Veteran striker Bob Taylor then grabbed a brace, heading in Matthew Redmile's cross to make it 2-0 after half an hour. Taylor's second sealed the Lambs' win when his left-foot drive found the net in the second period.

Stevenage secured a 3-0 win over Burton Albion with a classic away performance. The visitors stormed into the lead just before the break thanks to Dannie Bulman who found Simon Weatherstone who then found the top corner.

Maamria added Stevenage's second just before the break, coolly finishing from close range. Anthony Elding clinched the win, after Weatherstone set him up with a pin-point pass.

Canvey Island and Farnborough each earned a share of the spoils after an even and entertaining game. Farnborough took the lead when Sasha Opinel let fly with a 25-yard piledriver after just eight minutes.

Greg Pearson latched on to Jon Keeling's free kick and cancelled out Opinel's opener five minutes before half time to ensure honours were even going into the break. Canvey had their chances in the second period but Boro held firm, and the game ended 1-1.

Woking were left stunned by Carlisle after two late goals sealed a 2-1 victory for the home side.

Justin Richards put Woking ahead just after the restart, but two goals in the final ten minutes ensured Carlisle bagged the points. Chris Lumsdon started the comeback, drilling in a shot after 86 minutes before Simon Grand made it 2-1 two minutes later.

Exeter came from a goal down to beat Scarborough 3-1. The visitors took the lead through Neil Redfern after 21 minutes.

Redfearn had his chances after that but failed to convert them, and it was left to Exeter to steal the glory. The Devon side equalised thanks to Dean Moxey's shot after 51 minutes, before taking the lead through Steve Flack just after an hour of play.

The win was sealed after Sean Devine slotted home a penalty in the dying moments, after Mark Hotte had fouled Les Afful.

Promotion chasers Halifax has to settle for a goalless draw with strugglers Forest Green.

Forest Green keeper Steve Perrin did his bit by keeping Halifax at bay, denying Lewis Killeen, Craig Midgley and Denny Ingram. Forest hardly threatened and came closest to scoring through Ryan Williams, but his shot was well cleared by Halifax defender Paul Stoneman.

Hereford moved up to third in the table after securing a 1-0 win over Gravesend and Northfleet.

Both sides had their chances but it was Jamie Pitman's strike which settled the tie. He scored the only goal of the game, breaking the deadlock after 73 minutes.

Wayne Curtis scored twice to help Morcambe to a 3-1 win over struggling Northwich Victoria. Curtis broke the deadlock after 18 minutes, putting the ball in the top corner after a cross from Michael Howard.

Mark Quayle grabbed an equaliser for Northwich against the run of play but it wasn't long before Michael Twiss put Morcambe back in the driving seat with a low shot. Curtis added his second goal of the game in injury time to seal the win for the Shrimps.

An impressive York side secured a 3-1 win over Crawley under caretaker manager Viv Busby. Lee Grant put City in front just before half time, but Crawley equalised when Simon Wormull set up Danny Marney to tap home.

York were back in front less than 20 minutes later when Paul Robinson hit home, then Andy Bishop wrapped up the victory and the points with his goal five minutes from time.

For the love of the game...
