NORTH AND SOUTH: MONDAY NIGHT ROUND-UP

NATIONWIDE NORTH

Altrincham made it two wins out of two to stretch their lead at the top of the Nationwide North table ahead of the rest of the midweek fixtures as they won 1-0 at Ashton United.

The Robins, who came back from a goal down on Saturday to beat Gainsborough 4-1, are looking strong this season and will be hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the season in a local derby at Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday.

NATIONWIDE SOUTH

Margate opened their account in the Nationwide South division thanks to Adrian Clarke's first-half goal against Carshalton Athletic.

Following their 3-2 home defeat to Bognor Regis on the season's opening day, Gate made the trip to Colston Avenue and were delighted to return with three points to get them off and running.

The former Nationwide Conference side will be aiming for another successful away day on Saturday as they travel to Dorchester, who host Weston-super-Mare tonight.

For the love of the game...
