Cambridge and Lewes profit as top three falter
Cambridge City and Lewes took advantage of defeats for Hornchurch, Basingstoke and Grays to close the gap on the leaders on Saturday.
Cambridge snatched a 2-1 win at Bognor Regis to while Lewes held on at home to beat Bishop's Stortford.
Meanwhile, leaders Hornchurch were held to a 2-2 draw by Newport County, second-placed Basingstoke were beaten 1-0 at home by Carshalton and Grays Athletic lost 2-0 at Weston-super-Mare.
Weston's win moved them up to sixth, and Thurrock are now in seventh following a 2-1 triumph over Weymouth - still struggling to live up to expectations.
Dorchester have drawn level with Hayes in mid-table following a 3-1 win over Eastbourne. Hayes could only draw 1-1 with the division's bottom side Welling United.
Redbridge earned their second home win of the campaign as they held on to beat Margate 2-1, while struggling St Albans battled hard to gain a point in a 3-3 draw at Maidenhead, and Sutton United, still third from bottom, drew 1-1 with Havant & Waterlooville.
