SOUTH: TUESDAY NIGHT ROUND-UP

Barrington Belgrave, Lewes FC

Belgrave stars in big win for Lewes

Lewes recorded the most impressive result of the night on Tuesday as they put seven past Margate in a match that produced five goals in each half.

Rooks striker Barrington Belgrave hit a hat-trick for the home side, who moved up to fourth in the table following their 7-3 triumph and remain just three points behind leaders Hornchurch.

In an incredible game, visitors Margate twice took the lead in the first half but found themselves 3-2 down at the break were and unable to prevent Lewes' lethal forward line from punishing them in the second half.

Meanwhile, Hornchurch underlined their title credentials with a 3-0 win at Cambridge City thanks to a penalty from former Spurs midfielder Darren Caskey and goals from Wayne Purser and Kirk Jackson.

Former table-toppers Basingstoke also recorded another victory as they overcame a resilient Havant & Waterlooville at The Camrose to make it five home wins out of five, thanks to an injury-time winner from Jason Bristow.

Bognor Regis slipped to sixth in the table after falling to a 1-0 defeat at home to Sutton United, whose away form has far outshone their performances at Gander Green Lane so far this season.

Bottom club Welling collected their second away win of the season to double their points tally with a 1-0 victory at Eastbourne, while Redbridge recorded their first success at the Oakside Stadium as they saw off St Albans, 2-1.

In the only other game on Tuesday night Bishop's Stortford beat Maidenhead to move above their opponents and up to 12th in the table.

For the love of the game...
