NORTH: TUESDAY NIGHT ROUND-UP

HAPPY TRAVELS FOR EARLY LEADERS

Victories for Nuneaton Borough, Southport and Alfreton Town have taken them all level on points with Altrincham at the top of the Nationwide North table following the clubs' excellent start to the 2004/05 campaign.

Following on from their opening day success against Ashton United, Nuneaton secured a 3-1 win at Moor Green to keep themselves in touch with The Robins, who also beat Ashton on Monday night.

Southport enjoyed a 2-0 win at Barrow, while Alfreton also came home smiling following a 2-1 win at Gainsborough.

The biggest victory of the evening also came away from home as Worcester put four past local rivals Redditch without reply - Jai Stanley, Leon Kelly, Les Hines and Adam Webster scoring for City.

Hinckley United meanwhile built on Saturday's draw at Worcester with an excellent home win over Worksop (3-1), and Stafford Rangers got their season up and running with an impressive 3-0 success against Kettering.

Droylsden put a spanner in the Vauxhall Motors works with their 2-1 raid on Rivacre Park Stadium to leave The Motormen without a point from their opening two matches.

Elswehere, Hucknall held Harrogate to a 1-1 draw, while Stalybridge could not overcome visiting Lancaster as the two sides shared the spoils in a four-goal thriller.

Bradford (Park Avenue) host Runcorn FC Halton in tonight's only Nationwide North game, with both teams hoping to get their first points on the board.

For the love of the game...
